I Have a Dream

As I begin writing this, my first blog, I can’t help but think of the first line in the first blog of a friend of mine, Craig Glass, who wrote, “Really, Craig? Do we really need another blog?” I feel the same way. What do I have to write that hasn’t been written already?

Can I, will I, write something in a different way that some man out there will connect with, step forward in life and lead as God intended men to lead?

Throughout the Bible God speaks to men, from Adam to those He spoke through in the New Testament to those He sent His Son to die for. God has always called on men to lead His church. But we as men cannot fulfill that call without a relationship with Him.

Micah 6:8 tells us to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God. It stands to reason that unless we have a relationship with Him, he is not our God.

For half of my life I missed the importance of having a sold-out, passion-driven relationship with the God that brought Israel out of Egypt. I missed opportunities to lead as God would want me to lead, to make order out of the chaos around me. Instead, I made more chaos.

I struggled to honor my father, I turned my back on my wife by having an adulterous relationship, and, most importantly, I turned my back on God by playing the harlot to other gods and idols.

I submit that men all over the world are doing the same.

My evidence:

The God in Heaven, the God that brought Israel out of Egypt, the God of the Bible, is a jealous God. He expects us to obey Him and Him only!  Obey His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and testimonies (1 Kings 2:2-3). Pursue Him as our Bridegroom.

He called upon Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, the disciples, and many others to lead in the sphere of influence they were given.

He said in many ways, throughout the Bible to be Holy as I am Holy, be Perfect as I am Perfect. He calls upon men to be and set the example of a Holy Spirit-led disciple of His.

Without a passion-driven relationship with Him, through His only Son Jesus, can we be the men God wants us to be?

I see a world where men set the standard for just living, where men are showing the world around them how to be kind, where men walk humbly with God, Micah 6:8 where divorce is a thing of the past because men love their wives, where fathers love and train up their children.

I see a world where men have set a standard for holy living. I look forward to getting there together. Let’s get started!

Are you ready to live a life worthy of God’s call?  What is holding you back?  Let’s connect.
